Why join the Story STEAM Academy?

Learning should be hands-on, creative, and inspiring.

At the Story STEAM Academy, children don’t just learn science, technology, engineering, art, and maths. They experience them through stories, play, and real-world projects.

With a combination of live sessions, pre-recorded tutorials, and printable resources, your child will have all the guidance they need to dive into exciting projects. Whether it’s building a robot, conducting science experiments, exploring coding, or bringing their imagination to life with Lego® or origami, we’ve got it covered!

Children also have the chance to collaborate with others online, sharing ideas, celebrating their creations, and learning from one another in a supportive community.

The Story STEAM Academy enables every child to explore, create and discover
the wonders of STEAM in their own way.

How does it work?

The Story STEAM Academy is your gateway to a world of exciting STEAM projects, creative coding tutorials, LEGO inspiration, and more!

Live sessions run during term time, with each term (or sometimes half-term) focusing on hands-on projects that children can build and develop week by week. These sessions offer a chance to ask questions, share progress, and connect with others in a fun and supportive environment.

Alongside the live sessions, you’ll get access to a growing library of projects, including step-by-step tutorials – so you can join in at your own pace, anytime.

Story STEAM tutorials are like having me in your home – a teacher on tap! And for parents and carers, there’s a friendly WhatsApp group where you can ask questions, celebrate your child’s achievements, and be part of a like-minded community.

BUT WHY IS STEAM EDUCATION SO IMPORTANT?

You probably already know why learning STEAM skills through hands-on activities and projects is so important; that’s why you are here!

But just in case you need a little reminder…

STEAM projects provide a holistic and engaging approach to education that nurtures children’s curiosity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. By integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics, Story STEAM projects and club actvities encourage children to explore the world around them, make connections between subjects and apply their knowledge in practical and creative ways. Through these hands-on experiences, children develop a growth mindset, resilience and the ability to think innovatively, preparing them for the challenges of the future.

Our STEAM projects and clubs also foster collaboration, communication and teamwork, as children often work together to solve complex problems whether that’s within your family or with others in the live group sessions. Ultimately, it is The Story STEAM Academy’s aim to empower children to become lifelong learners and prepare them to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Oh… and let’s not forget there is fun to be had too!

What are the Benefits of Joining a Story STEAM Academy Club?

Everyone loves being part of a club – and children are no exception! While your children might already enjoy local sports or music sessions, The Story STEAM Academy open up a whole new world of learning and creativity, right from the comfort of home.

At The Story STEAM Academy, we offer unique and exciting clubs that go beyond what’s available locally – designed to inspire curious minds and support creative learning across subjects.

Story STEAM Projects

Build, explore and invent with guided hands-on projects that blend science, technology, engineering, art, and maths inspired by a new story theme each term. Kits are available to order for some projects from the shop or you can source your own materials using the ‘what you need’ materials list.

Lego Club

More than play – children receive weekly creative challenges that encourage problem-solving, design thinking, and imaginative building, with gentle guidance and lots of fun.

Scratch Coding Club

Give your child the tools to become a creator of technology. In Scratch Coding Club, they’ll get creative learning to build games, animations, quizzes, code AI and much, much more!

Micro:bit Coding Club

In Micro:bit Coding Club, children will explore physical computing – writing code that interacts with lights, sensors, sound and motors to solve real world challenges.

Origami Club

A calm and creative space to explore the art of paper folding. Learn to make seasonal, topic and story-themed models while developing fine motor skills, focus and computational thinking skills.

Japan Club

Step into the world of Japan through stories, crafts, language and culture. Each session explores a different aspect of Japanese life – from the geography of its islands and famous landmarks to traditional festivals, customs and food. Children will learn beginner-level Japanese words and phrases while creating themed crafts and discovering everyday life through fun, engaging storytelling.

Japan Club is led by Hannah, who lived and worked in Japan for three years and brings her first-hand experience and passion for the culture into every session.

Flexible, Accessible and Fun

All clubs are run online with pre-recorded sessions released weekly and optional live sessions for connection and sharing. Your child can learn at their own pace, revisit projects anytime, and explore a wide range of creative topics – all in a safe, supportive environment.

Why subscribe to Story STEAM Academy?

In a nutshell, Story STEAM projects offer opportunities for innovation and creativity!

At The Story STEAM Academy, we believe in fostering innovation and creativity through our projects. While other STEAM (or STEM) subscriptions may offer fancy kits, they often lack the crucial element of encouraging imagination and originality. With Story STEAM design and make projects, for example, children have the opportunity to create their own unique products while still benefiting from the learning value following along with live and/or pre-recorded sessions. Children are  encouraged to let their imaginations run wild, and experiment with their own ideas as they bring their creations to life and you watch their confidence grow. It is when things go wrong, that the real learning happens… but also, a phrase that comes up time and time again in all clubs is

‘That might be a mistake that worked!’

What parents have to say about StorySTEAM Education

Story STEAM has been absolutely brilliant for my 9 year old daughter, Amelia. She absolutely loves every lesson and has learnt so much. Amelia does coding, microbit coding and Story Steam and the clear enthusiasm and passion that Hannah shows in every lesson is contagious!

Learning so much though doing and having fun – We couldn’t recommend Story STEAM enough. ❤

My children enjoyed the pneumatic monsters story steam session at home Ed club today. They liked the story and then making moving monsters. The session was well delivered and my two got a lot from the session. Thank you!
